Spotting Squirrel Nesting Activity
In fall, squirrels in New Orleans often follow overhanging limbs onto the roof and slip into attics through gaps at soffits, fascia lines, or roof vents, where their daylight activity and nest-building can stay hidden above the ceiling for weeks. LaJaunie’s Pest Control knows how to spot those squirrel-specific entry patterns early, before chewing, nesting, and contamination spread deeper into the home.
Common indicators that Squirrel Control have entered your home include:
- Hearing rapid scurrying or rolling sounds above the ceiling in the attic or along upper walls during the early morning or late afternoon.
- Seeing squirrels repeatedly climbing utility lines, fences, or nearby branches to reach the roofline or eaves.
- Finding acorn shells, insulation clumps, or shredded nesting material tucked near attic access points, soffit openings, or around roof vents.
- Noticing gnaw marks on fascia boards, vent screens, or attic wood where squirrels have widened an entry hole.
- Discovering a strong musky odor or concentrated droppings in the attic, crawlspace edges, or near wall void entry points.
For squirrel control, LaJaunie’s Pest Control begins with a full wildlife inspection and builds a customized plan that may include trapping, exclusion, roof vent sealing, soffit and fascia repairs, void closing, and attic remediation to stop re-entry. Our inspector checks the yard, eaves, roofline, crawlspace or slab edges, AC voids, interior voids, and attic with photo documentation, then seals active and potential access points to restore structural protection and peace of mind.
Squirrel pest control
Your home is protected from squirrels by the Wildlife Exclusion Program’s exclusion seals and targeted trapping. Your home’s attic, soffits, eaves and vents are sealed with cement and steel mesh to block squirrel access and nesting. Your property includes attic and roof-void sealing plus a one-year warranty against the original squirrel incursion.
You get your home back from squirrels without repeat hassle. Your custom squirrel control plan starts with a 1.5–2 hour inspection, and qualifying exclusion work includes a 1-year wildlife warranty.
Our Process for long-term squirrel removal and exclusion
-
How we work
Our squirrel control process begins with a thorough inspection from our local pest experts, who check common entry points like your attic and eaves, which are popular nesting spots for squirrels in Louisiana during the fall.
Once we identify the problem areas, our pest management plan moves to humane trapping and removal, carefully getting the squirrels out of your home and restoring your comfort.
To ensure lasting peace of mind, the final step in our pest removal service is exclusion; for example, we seal any entry points larger than a quarter-inch with steel to prevent future squirrel problems, letting you reclaim your home for good.
